Having read a lot of the posts on this topic it appears that sagging rear suspensions is a problem on some 9-5s, but hardly all of them. While it's important to know about this, these threads invariably turn into pissing contests based on partial, often biased truths, individuals' opinions, and information from sources that cannot always be independently verified. It would be a lot more useful if those with information would share what has worked for them rather than demean what has worked for others. No one here has the final answer to this.
Is it an actual design flaw? Is it parts being made to the wrong specifications? Is it owner inflicted? Were load ratings incorrectly stated, leading owners to unknowingly overload their cars? Some combination of the above?
The fact is that no one knows and that Saab appears to be aware there is a problem but has not come forth with a policy of how to handle it. It doesn't serve any purpose to throw rocks at each other.
