I put the fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail last night and checked fuel pressure. The SS braided line is about 3 feet long so I taped the gauge to the windshield so I could watch it. KOEO, the fuel pressure went up to around 38-40 PSI with no flow, IIRC. Starting the engine and at idle with the vacuum line still on dropped it to about 22 PSI-ish. I did not remove the vacuum line and took it for a short drive to see what the fuel pressure did. Under varying throttle the pressure stayed constant at around 22 PSI. As more throttle is applied and building mild boost the car starts to buck and misfire. Let off the throttle and it runs OK with no misfire. I can actually get the car up to highway speed, but only if I do it gradually. Definitely a fuel delivery issue. The vacuum line to the fuel pressure regulator felt kind of deteriorated and left black gunk on my fingers when I felt around for it. It was time for dinner so I went inside and never made it back out to the garage before I fell asleep on the couch. :-) I'll look at it again tonight and change the hose and check to see what the fuel pressure is with the line off at idle. Next steps will be to swap out the fuel pump assembly with a known good one from my 96 9000 Aero and check/change the fuel filter. I have a fuel filter for a 9000 but I need to check if it's the same. If not, I'll buy one. I've never changed it and the car has over 190,000 miles on it.
