If the four compressions are ok, then I'd say go for it. But be mindful that you will need to read read and read some more this bulletin boards archives. All you need to know is in here.....and the Quasimotors web pages which you can find by searching. Suggestions if this is only car.........
- the 9000 is not a honda, you'll need to be mindfull of its needs, as opposed to the honda which is gas and oil and just wait to do timing belt
- buy parts from Eeuroparts, they have saved many here beaucoup bucs
- purchase one of the Seats craftsman tool collections, the biggest one yu can afford, its a nice way to get your collection started, home depot has some nice inexpensive tool sorage boxes, you'll realize when you are avoiding huge repair bills that in fact tools are cheap!
- buy a cheap hydraulic jack and jack stands you'll use em forever
- read Ari's posts in this archive, good stuff
- after removing front right wheel shroud and releasing tension on serp belt, check all pulleys for play and bearing noise....actually good to first check them with engine running with a cheap harbor freight/or sears mechanic stethescope its easy to hear noisy bearings

Fyi, strange that the mechanic put car on lift and said needed HC, should look under plastic cover between false and actual firewall to see HC area.
Doing HC (and ventil fan should also be done at same time if not already) is a true 9000 right of passage. If you find clearances to tight, remember that that's what many of us thought but keep working at it and the fan unit will come out and go back in.

We look forward to hearing about your DIY successes.
