I have to agree with Ari. Let your own experience be your guide. There have been several articles in enthusiasts' mags concerning the use of premium over a lesser octane. One gentleman who used to work for a major oil company said that advertising was slanted to make you believe that the "good stuff" was only in their premium brand, when in fact all those goodies were in their entire product line. I don't know if that is the case for the entire industry or not, but I wouldn't be surprised. With gas prices where they are, get by as cheaply as you can.
