These are the most difficult to find cause they always hide when you take it in for the appointment. I see some hope though, with Benjamin's description of long periods of dead time that is great since the intermittent changes to some time long enough to do some good look see. It doesn't sound as if it is a short Craig, either fuses or wires would be showing evidence of being blown or overheated wires, or arc traces. Sounds like a loose (and I mean sloppy loose) bolt/screw terminal point or very loose crimp at a terminal lug. If it won't even turn over it must be very primary like on the back of ign. key switch or a relay. I have seen relays go bad in the coil wires which are tiny. Test each relay with battery (12v) on it's coil leads to see if position or vibration will get it to chatter. I hold it in hand starting light tapping of fist and relay gradually getting rougher. Remember the whole car is expected to never quit smashing into the world's worst pothole. Examine relay socket wiring. It has to be in keyed engine systems on circuit to die like that. Let us know.
