Okay, 4 months later, we've followed Larry Cook's excellent directions for testing fuel flow on our new 1976 99GL, replaced the injector lines & injectors, had to seal a leak on the csi distributor & have good flow coming out of the injectors.
The car will start with starting fluid & we can get it running for short periods of time with constant throttling. It will not idle by self. We have not been able to obtain the red manual. We took it to a "Saab mechanic" who replaced the distributor cap, wires, spark plugs, and adjusted the timing and said that was all he could do. He didn't understand how the cold start mechanism worked and guessed that was the problem and that was all he could do.
Also, there is a vacuum hose coming off a canister next to the coil that we can't figure out where it goes to.
There is a blue & black wire coming off the cold start mechanism that is cut. Where does that get connected to?
I guess after I fix those items the next step to test the fuel pressure?
If so would someone be so kind to give us the steps of that?
Again, we appreciate your help,
Fred
