Seems to me that GM epsilon platform may offer better road handling dynamics for SAAB engineers charged with suspension handling tuning. I like to think that ne platform will eliminate torque steer, camber steer, wheel spinin tight curves, understeer at speed and will generally keep SAAB conpetitive with the S60, the new A-4, MB C class and the 3 Series.
If you ask me, SAAB has never excelled at chassis development. Recently, I have been impressed by some of GM's efforts in this regard. Look at the handling capabilities of the 2002 Cadillac Escalade compared to the FOrd Expedition! I think what you object to is the perceptio this might create that SAABs are and Pontiacs are not that much alike. Well, if you think so, just wait and test drive a 2nd Generation 9-3 and 2002 Pontiac Grand AM back to back. Certainly, GM-Opel has turned out some decent platforms and there is nothing novel about SAAB outsourcing platform development.
