as far as filters, I'm using Saab OEM oil and air filters. Re: driving patterns, I suppose its mostly "city" driving, but here in sprawl-ville its really a mixture of highway driving for about half the commute, then city stop and go for the last 2-3 miles.
Curious about the insolubles. One reason I sent the oil off for analysis is because I bought the car with 53k on it. I knew from records that the 10, 20 and 30k services were done at a Saab dealer (presumably with Saab oil), but I wasn't sure about any other changes. Now I've put nothing in the car except M1 10W30, which I've read will have a cleansing effect on engines if they have gunk in them. I wonder if this is happening and would that explain the insolubles? For this reason I make sure not to let the mileage get too far past 5k between changes. Thanks a bunch for posting the results here. I've been checking out bobistheoilguy's page too. I could read that stuff all day.
