Engines have a front and a rear main seal. These are circular seals that surround the crankshaft. The rear seal should always be replaced whenever doing transmission or clutch work, unless it's fairly new, because it costs so much in labor to get to the thing. Leakage causes oil to get into the clutch area.
I got a Quaife on my 9000 Turbo and am less than impressed. Maybe it's better on an icy hill, but not substantially so. It will still spin the innermost wheel on a curve, so it's not that "insistent" on delivering poster to the wheel with the most traction. I wouldn't repeat.
Don't know what transmission part your friend is referring to. Agree with clutch slave.
Does your Viggen have a horsepower upgrade? If so, may want to consider a stronger clutch. Seems like 120K miles is a little early for the clutch to burn out.
