wow, gung ho huh? I love (loved saabs). the og 900t's were a blast. you'd buy them for a couple grand used, drive on em, work on em, drive em, fix em again, etc. Good car, unique, spg's handled like on rails. kind of evena rally car.

Today, I'm not sure I'd buy a saab. I mean I've driven a 9-3, nice, but no comp. I mean, if I offered you a lobster tail for the price of a fish stick, would you turn it down?

I guess before the wrx I would have seriously considered a saab compared to your typical a4 or maxima or 3 series bimmer or etc. but after a car like the wrx, why bother? I mean why bother with any other car at that price? for the money, if you like cars, there can't be any challenge. Hate to say it, but I think its true. It routinely shows up on top ten lists of all time cars or of cars of the decade (last wrx iteration, that is). Same reasoning for the skyline. for the price of the viggen, we might be able to get the skyline gtr. the two are not comparable. wish they were, but they're not (or so the mags say, haven't driven a viggen nor a skyline). when the price or value or specs are close, I'll go saab cuz I know the company and like the products. but when the rift is so wide, loyalty only goes so far.

so, I'm hoping saab comes out with something to excite, I wanna buy a saab. I'm no horsepower junky (even though you saw me quoting specs, you don't hear me talking f-bodies and mustangs), but we're not buying saabs purely for the name. i'll gladly buy a driver's car with a little more hp than i need in exchange for a little luxury. Saab has to have a product, otherwise they're gonna get left behind.

just my .02.

curt
