I own a 2002 9-5 Aero with the 5 spd auto. I can vouch for some early concern with the box hunting around a little bit, but I'm pleased to say that this is not the case now as I approach 500miles on the car. The box is very very nice, and I suspect that it is the adaptive electronics adapting to my style of driving, and continually improving the shift quality with time. It is very good now, and I'm now happy with it, though I was a bit worried for the first 100 or so miles, as it didn't seem as smooth as my previous 4 spd auto 9-5 at first. Now the changes are barely perceptible when driving gently (which was where the slight hunting occurred), and it no longer hunts. My only observation is that it holds on to first at very slow speeds longer than in the old 4 speed. This is very obvious to me, as I live in an area with a 20mph speed limit and speed bumps, and driving out of this area at low speeds, almost stop start between speed bumps keeps it in first more than the 4 speed. This is only an observation though - not an criticism.
Now all I have to get sorted now at the dealer is a noisy Power Steering Pump that squishes quite noisily when turning the wheel!
