Lou,

I've not seen an 02 road test of the 0-60 times, but according to Saab's own specs on their website, the Auto is 7.8 Seconds 0-60 versus 6.5 for the manual. It *feels* however, much quicker than that. Regardless, 0-60 is a pretty worthless measure of a car's performance, and with the great gobs of torque that the Aero can throw out, it's midrange where the Aero really excels. I'm still running her in, but the flexibility and willingness to fly at even moderate throttle settings and lowish RPM (<3500) show that this really is a useful car on the road. I've had 2 autos (both Saab) now, and had 2 9-5 manuals prior. I'll never go back to a manual box now, despite being a manual gearbox advocate in the past. Here in the UK, driving is just too stop start all the time, and driving a manual soon becomes old when you've been stuck on the M25 around London for a couple of hours. Sure there may be a tiny tiny drop in performance in 0-60, but typically on every single car I've owned, I've only ever bothered about that once in each car - on a quiet road at night to see how the car compares to makers specs :-) The rest of the time, I just drive and enjoy. I know for a fact though, I would definitely *not* like to be racing through a manual gearbox on an Aero in an effort to get max 0-60!!
(not if I wanted to have a long lived gearbox and clutch) - no prevention of torque drop off on the manual either....

I'm sure you've seen it already, but there is some stuff on the Auto box at http://saabnet.com/tsn/models/2002/pr6.html
