V70 has more safety features and better safety rating (but not by much!). I looked at 9-5 wagon before I bought it - the Saab handles/drives better than V70 and is equally built. V70 with 2.4 non-turbo auto is underpowered (I have a 5 speed manual with the 2.4, which is difficult to find but has adequate power). I've been very happy with my one year old V70 and have had no significant problems. 9-5 is a great car if it fits your needs (didn't quite fit mine). Personally, I wouldn't worry about the turbo. It's not going to die on you 6 mos after you buy!
