A good number of BMW folks run the R4 pad on the track. The R4S is the light track duty/street pad version. The major downside is that a lot of folks complain that the R4S squeals like a garbage truck. In terms of rotor preservation, they are an aggressive pad...as is the case with most aggressive pads they tend to also not be that easy on the rotors.
I've never heard anyone comment on them being low dust so I doubt that is a huge benefit.
It's interesting to see folks worrying about 30k longevity here...on some of the M3 lists people are complaining about having to change their brakes more than once per day (obviously using them at the track...).
