For the back, might as well use OE.
With an '02 Aero, I switched to EBC Green in the frront, but somehow got EBC "Kevlar" (black) for the back. Anyway,
at 9000 miles, the OE front pads were actually still a smidgen thicker than the new EBC pads. They dusted horribly in the front, tolerably in the back, and were quiet as churchmice. I swapped them out b/c I didn't want to replace the rotors and b/c of the dust.
The EBC (after about 1500 miles) screech like fingernails on chalkboard when very lightly applied, silence out with higher pressure, and very occasionally manage to get the rotors "singing" like a crystal goblet. The dust is gone! In fact, the EBC "Kevlar" rear pads throw more dust than the "Green" fronts. The supposed higher coefficient of friction is unnoticeable. The supposed improved fade resistance doesn't mean a whit when driving any 150 mph "Autobahn proof" car in somnolent Ohio traffic. The rotors are showing a surface which appears more smooth and polished than when using OE pads, which gave a galled appearance to the surface. I take this to mean much less rotor wear.
Word has it that Saab is investigating other pad materials. Remember that an OE pad must first and formost be perfectly quiet during test drives by prospective buyers...
