Each class is divided into three grades: 1, 2 and 3, where grades 2 and 3 normally encompass semi and fully-synthetic oils. ...
To afford Saab engines the best protection, with regard to lubrication, the ability to dissolve residues and the neutralization of combustion products, we recommend the following oil grades:
* ACEA A2/B2 or A3/B3
The primary difference between A1 and A2 is the viscosity - A2 must have a higher viscosity (in particular, HTHS). A3 must have the same physical specs (when new) as A2, but there are more demanding test requirements. A5 must have the same physical specs (when new) as A1, but must meet the same demanding test requirements as A3.
You can read more than you ever want to know about oil at Lubrizol's web site ... but be forwarned, it requires IE 5.X or higher to look at. You can't use Netscape Navigator - it won't load.
