Flywheel pilot bearing crash -- I blew it - give it to Posted by Landjet [Email] (#16) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Landjet) on Sat, 7 Jan 2006 20:25:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
me straight. Not having any good pictures to look at, and not knowing the proper installation of the pilot bearing in the flywheel, is going to force me to do another open heart surgery.
Question: Is the pilot bearing supposed to be pressed into the flywheel flush? I asked my machine shop to install the pilot bearing into the flywheel after they broached the surface -- today I noticed from pictures that I took, that the bearing was not seated completely into the flywheel. It appears to be protruding about .150 - .200.
Also, there is a noticeable noise from within the bell housing that Brad at George's Imports did not seem concerned about. It has been driving me nuts and now I am convinced that I need to open it up and reseat the bearing. Probably will need to pull it out and replace it anyway, as it is probably banged up from the input shaft rubba dubbin' it.
OK boys, let me have it.
