I would do exactly that. Instead of guessing what's wrong with your car, take it too the best Saab mechanic you can find, and have them give you a detailed list of what's wrong with your car as well as an estimate of how much it will cost to fix. Take this list to the dealer, tell him that either he can fix it or you'll fix it and then take him to court and make him pay for it. Obviously you should have done this before purchasing the car, but there's no reason you can't still get the dealer to pay for it. I'm an indepedent dealer myself, and warrenties like you descibe are generally a come-on (I don't use them). They'll give you the "run-around" until you get tired and go away. The only way they'll pay is if you hold their feet to the fire. If it's over $1,000 it might be worth hiring a lawyer. A nasty leter from a lawyer might do the trick. If not you can take them to small claims court and most likely win. But don't fool around, give them one chance to fix it then take it to your mechanic, get it fixed and then go after them for the money. But check their fine print first. Good luck.
