My thoughts too. Their excuse was "you know how hot it gets here in the desert, the rubber parts must have gone bad from the heat." Well, it does get hot in Arizona, but even 120+ degrees F is ice cold compared to what the parts face once installed under the hood of a car.
Because of its somewhat unique configuration, the C900 might be the "easiest-to-replace" clutch on any vehicle made for decades - you do not need to disconnect the transmission from the engine, everything is out there and up front, but you have to know how to do it. My guess is that these mechanics may have been trained on current SAABs but had no clue how to deal with a 20+ year old model.
