A good chemist has spoken, good points. If a tank is run full to empty (saab) you are a sadist to your pump. Any car which has a in tank pump (are there any that don't today?) is the same. Low fuel no cooling, no longevity. I try to keep half tank or more except traveling and then I fill up when the wife has to stop; still works close to half a tank. Commuting each day I try to not fill all the way as I don't need to haul useless weight around each mile. As for the previous comment of rusting one's tank bottom out: ever noticed the saab tank is plastic? I use a common ethanol mix (15%e / 85% petrol) here south of Chicago. The alcohol will absorb any condensated in the tank and I help keep the market going for gasohol. I raise corn / I support gasohol.
