the bit about mars was in the bit deleted. one should note mars subtends a smaller angle of solar radiation, hence the colder average temperature, and you're absolutely right that other contributions are important in the greenhouse effect than CO2 alone, as the mars atmosphere is thin. because his article oversimplifies, I can't (without studying many of his references in some detail, which btw, some look interesting + I may follow up on in time) be sure he's not oversimplifying to the extent of being wrong +/or cooking his own interpretations of the "data"... hence I can not form an opinion based on his article... and no, his "bio" is not sufficiently impressive to convert me to his religion on that basis alone... ;-)
I'm not trying to suggest eg we should reduce normal emissions of CO2 eg through breathing etc... my point is that we do manipulate our environment with our technological achievements, and it doesn't hurt to try to improve technological achievements in ways that manipulate the environment less. Eg if I make a machine that pumps vast amounts of ("harmless") O2 into the environment, I'm still polluting... wouldn't it be better if said machine accomplished the same task while pumping out less O2... kind of like when camping, "leave no trace" is a worthy ideal... that CO2 is often accompanied by other stuff, makes technology shifts away from things that produce both, appealing... hopefully efforts in that direction would be rational however!
