"Crap" is not how I would characterize that article. It's written as debunking of the usual "crap" that passes for AGW pseudo-science. I don't find it misleading at all, aside from the unnecessary implied political affiliation towards the end (although he did use quotation marks around meaningless terms like "liberal" and "conservative"). Pro- and Anti- AGW views cut across usual political affiliations.
The actual role of CO2 in planetary temperature fluctuation is incomplete science, and most probably a very marginal role for earth based on how little greenhouse effect Mars has compared to earth despite vastly greater amount of CO2 there. It is astounding that the AGW propaganda has succeeded in convincing the public to take drastic measures to curtail CO2 when the science behind it is so flimsy . . . somehow in the lay non-scientifically trained minds, the burden of proof has shifted from the accuser to the defense . . . as if it suddenly has become fashionable to demand the proof of non-existence of God in order to stop human sacrifices. It should be elementary common sense that the burden of proof should fall on the shoulders of those making drastic policy coercions.
"Crap" is actually an apt description of the carbon-credit scheme behind the profit/rent-seeking AGW proponents, the economic driving force behind AGW. Those leading the carbon-credit scheme recently are actually the exact same group of people who "pioneered" Credit Default Swaps a decade and half ago: people like Blythe Masters, who invented the same Credit Default Swaps that brought the world finance and economy to the brink of collapse (and still on-going). The fundamental problem with both system is actually very similar: removing intimate local knowledge through repackaging, and blending everything into generic commodified "crap" for trading across remote distances, so all specific knowledges are hidden from decision making (valuation and prioritization), so that the whole market can be monopolized by a few big players on the global stage. Human endeavors are about prioritization and information discovery. There are all sorts of acute local pollution issues that crop up and need address, just like local bankers used to live on their knowledge about the borrowers' particular financial conditions and needs. Carbon Credit, just like Credit Default Swaps before it, removes such specific knowledge, and repackage issues along bureaucratically determined parameters that are nearly utterly irrelevant (like 3yr back testing during a bubble to guage 30-year papers, and CO2 as a stand-in for real pollution). The process indeed reminds one of the rendering factory that turns scraps and detritus scooped up from slaughterhouse floors, and render them into "pink slime" infused with ammonia, then market the whole thing to school lunch programs in ground beef . . . in other words, utter crap.
