OK, let me apologize right now for any misinterpretations I've had regarding your posts. An argument is not my desired outcome.

Your post of 08.Nov: "Without a discount on the Forge I don't see any reason not to choose the Hyperboost valve...and with 2 O-rings vs 1, I don't really see how the Forge can be better. Also there is the issue of cold weather problems with the Forge."

I took this to mean you were belittling the Forge, & saying that it was constructed using only 1 O-ring & had problems being used in cold weather. I'm sorry if I misunderstood, since, obviously, none of these statements are true.

Your post of 09.Nov: "...you can get the Hyperboost valve with a stronger spring (I have both the blue and green spring, and use the stronger blue one)...to me it seems that it would be better to have a valve that opens with less vacuum (but still be able to hold boost), so it will respond faster when you release the throttle."

Just as you've proposed it in this thread, this combination is a contradiction. The spring closes the valve, while vacuum works against the spring to open it. A stronger spring needs more vacuum to open, not less.

Your post of 22.Nov: "It doesn't matter that a stronger valve opens later. It's completely irrelevant. Faster closing is also not nearly as important as avoiding compressor stall which, as I've mentioned, is the main cause of lag during shifts. When you release the throttle, the valve shouldn't open as late as possible, it should open as soon as possible. As for how fast it closes again, the important thing is just that it's closed when you get on the gas again. Even a pretty weak spring should be able to do that.
Do you see my point?"

Actually, I agree with most of this statement. Except for the first two sentences, which, again, contradict the fourth sentence.

As for the proposal of a group buy, I actually got the idea from someone else doing the same thing for the Hyper (even for the same $110 price, I think). I wasn't soliciting opinions, I was simply offering to fund the gross purchase for others who had also decided they wanted the Forge valve. When people started asking if I'd looked at the Hyper, I tried to fill in as many gaps as possible, & that comparison provided info I couldn't. Again, it wasn't intended to sway opinion, only to provide additional information.

When Aero9k asked for input, I offered what I'd learned without telling him which one I felt was best. I gave pros, cons & commonalities for both valves. I DID say that the savings on the Forge didn't warrant buying it if he liked the features of the Hyper better. I did NOT mention that Stratmosphere would NOT answer my questions (twice!).

Adam, I'm not looking for a fight here. Like you, I'm trying to help others. Any of these valves we're discussing will do what they're designed to do, with a slightly different "twist" for each brand. All I'm saying is that if you have some data which challenges other data presented, then PLEASE post it. It can only help everyone participating in our discussion.
