Piggyback vs stand alone ECU!!!

OK, here is the deal! I have been going back & forward from deciding on a piggyback system & then I changed my mind & decided to use a haltech E11 & now I am up in the air again. I am attempting to determine which is a better way to go as in the good & bad of each setup! It seems that both have advantages as well as disadvantages.
The stand alone systems seem to be more tuneable however I have heard many times that they are more maintenance oriented. Meaning when it's really cold or hot the motor might be very difficult to start or not start at all. Also lots of expensive dyno time is mandatory to set the car up.
The piggy back systems cost less, cheaper to dial in & are not nearly as sensitive to extreme weather changes. My thinking is, is that the pigyback systems final power levels will be lower then the stand alone systems, however this is a tradeoff for much lower setup costs as well as equiptment costs & greater reliability!
I am just attempting to get peoples idea on the best way to go. My SPG will only be used when the roads are not covered in salt & will see track duty.
