Steve you got it right for pros and cons of T5. I wanted to comment on the CONS to share how I got around them in my installation:

1 - The installation was tricky for me - but in retrospect I made it worse than it had to be! It came down to three main tasks - the CPS mounting, Speedo signal, and a rat's nest of wiring. The CPS involves mounting the trigger wheel to the pulley and making a bracket for the sensor. This part is purely fabrication. Next, the T5 ECU needs a speed signal* which the 9000 electric speedometer generates, and the c900 has no compatible signal. So I used a 9000 speedometer, which is has an electric pickup at the trans (no speedo cable) and acts as a signal conditioner for the ECU. Then there is the wiring and extension of the T5 harness. I shun electrical work in general, so this was a painstaking and intimidating job for me. But in this respect it was no more work than wiring up an aftermarket system. There is easier stuff -- like the intake air temp sensor and rear O2 sensor only required welded threaded bungs to fit, $50 total at the local muffler shop. And the fuel injectors, MAP sensor, coolant temp sensor, DI Cassette, Injectors, TPS, sensor grounds, etc. are all plug-and-play.
2 - The parts I got lucky with. I had a good friend with a wrecked 9kt, and he wanted to see the T5 swapped as much as I did! I had the wiring harness, ECU and sensors at my disposal. The only things I had to buy outright were Trionic manuals, Charcoal canister and purge valve, hoses to make the idle air valve fit nicely, etc.
3 - Now that the car is up and running well, I'm making my first contacts to SQR and Maptun, and it's taking quite awhile to get responses. I expect to have success here, but instead of 1 month, it might take 6.

Damien

*speed signal - if you used a T5 from a ng900, this is from an ABS sensor at the wheel. You could tap-in to the existing ABS if you have it, or install a late model axle assy with provisions for ABS. Only the 9000 uses a speed signal from the speedometer.
