Another thing to note is a stande alone fi/ign/bc ecu will make diagnostics alot easier w/ realtime value displays and just a bunch of sensors and valves basically. I think the real trick is to find a combined ecu w/ the functions you want and still use stock sensors and solenoids. For changes in weather and driveability issues, shouldn't an ecu that compensates for barometric changes compensate for that? From my understanding, A pwm IAC control is something that will help in driveability.
Fish and I are about to install a Megasquirt ecu in his 86spg. We tailored the code to work w/ the stock sensor and solenoids, and pretty much are making it so it just plugs right into the stock connector.. pretty trick. Will it work, haha... uh.. hopefully. We do have two lines out on it to control a 5th injector (aquamist hsv) and a stock boost solenoid. The unit costed me a whole whopping $110, no timing control yet, but the diy community are working on something. THey also have a realtime display that fits in DIN that shows all the good stuff:)
Any one up for helping w/ creating a webpage that lists your fuel and timing maps w/ your different mods?
