Don't know why everyone is quoting silly money for things like APC upgrades or boost controllers. The APC controller is much too simple, and every feasible kind of mod too well documented to warrant spending something like $350-400, unless it's a part of basic plug and play tuning kit from Abbott, Trent etc. which you just want to have installed and set up, and then forget about it, in which case it makes sense for not having to muck around with stuff and peace of mind. With a preoeprly tuned engine, you can have all the boost you want, as fast as you reasonably want it to come on, with a tweaked stock APC and uprated wastegate actuator.
I don't understand spending the same again for a boost controller: the one thing that makes APC worth it's while is knock control, which you don't have with any kind of aftermarket controller, and if you just want stable boost and fast spool up, a manual boost controller and maybe an uprated actuator is all you'll ever need. Of course, if you can integrate an electronic boost controller into your system so that you can run different boost levels in 1st, 2nd, 3rd gear it gets to be a different story, but unfortunately that does not apply to our c900's.
MSD BTM is a nice thing, but thanks to Franks ingenuity I can install DI for about $300 without touching the engine (crank sensor gets bolted to timing cover, sensor wheel to crank pulley, everything is calibrated and machined to fit) and it brings me a level of knock protection I feel entirely comfortable with after deleting APC.
