Nothing is as stout as a Saab 900 classic. Sure, the engines are no longer considered strong by today's standards, but the new Sabs are narrow (I am 6 foot and when I sit in a new Saab any model w/my 5 foot 2 wife we rub shoulders), shorter, and mechanically more cramped.

An example of decreased stoutness is that the old Saab 900 Classics needed no stiffenning. Now many performance guys need to go running out to get devices to stabilize their strut towers so they feel solid at speed.

Then of course there is platform sharing nonsense. The 9-7 SUV is a travesty. GM needs at least 1 platform specific to each line that is unshared with any other platform. Since GM started placing Chevy engines in Cadilacs in the 1970's, they have developed an attitude that 1 size fits all and that no one will notice.

Sorry, they will get my hard earned $$$$ when they deserve it and earn it and design something I find palatable.

Others obviously disagree, but that is my thinking behind why I won't be buying a new Saab any time soon Benji. It is the reason I own 4 older Saabs (2 SOnetts and a 900c and a 9000 - and yes the 9000 needs strut stabilization).

I mean no offense to you Benji. It is just that this is carrot and stick thinking. Right now GM gets the stick from me. If they design an awesome car again, then I will give them the carrot.
