This summer, Chretien was talking a whole new range of co-operation with the US, including floating a trial balloon on use of the US dollar. I saw a news report on a study which claimed Canucks would be 20%++ better off simply converting to the US buck, simply because our dollar has been artificially and unfairly undervalued for so long. There seems no relief. We've got the Rodney Dangerfield of currencies.
You and I can't help it if the currency traders don't boost the value by buying heavily.
There is nothing so certain as change, and the pace of change will accelerate, mark my words.
Until things change, Saab should have a special section to which Canuck e-mails are sent so that apologies can be better handled. You would more than likely be handled the same way by any other automaker which bases the bulk of its continetal marketing strategy in the US, where sales are 10x+ more than Canada.
In a globalizing world, nations/provinces can be an inhibiting factor in freedom of trade, even under NAFTA.
Sorry for your troubles.
