I agree with Landjet, the mazda miata is a great platform and the later larger displacement motors can take a decent beating. my stepdad has a 93 RX7 putting down at least 650hp don't know about the tq numbers but he did destroy his rear dif at the strip the first time out! stock tranny however, just lightened flywheel, spec clutch, and a short throw shifter. It was his daily driver until he took it to the strip!

I've always wanted to drop a nissan RB2.6DET into a miata, but the wiring harness and mounting would be serious PITA! Another option is the second to last supra. Strong engine, receptive to turbo, strong tranny and rear diff! pick up for kinda cheap although the whole drift crowd has made these kind of raise in price.

anyway, another out of the box thought,
