I would consider a E30, E36 or E46 M3 since you do track time & want a platform/engine/etc that can take that abuse. You can but a E30 3 series for cheap & throw a E36 motor or even the 540i motor in there. Same with the E36..... easy to do motor swaps or just add some boost to the E36 M3's motor.
Otherwise 944 turbo's & 968's are excellent cars
I would skip a supra.... not a track car.... to heavy
RX7's are probably the best handling (OK, one of the best) cars on the road however the engine cannot last long ESPECIALLY with 400 HP.
Another excellent option is a monster miata. But a old miata for a few grand & slap a mustang V8 in there. A guy I know has one with a built 347 & it's a rocket & handles extremely well. VERY fun car!!!!
If you want FWD there is always the NG900/9-3/9-5's that you could look at.
