1: If you got that much water in your tank from that station there has to be others in the same situation. This is the place to start.
2: With the new sealed gas tank systems, I think the half tank rule to prevent condensation does not apply.
3: Using the reasonable person rule, I think any mechanic would try and start the car first. With fuel injection you cannot look down the throat, pump it and see if you have gas. That went out with carbs.
4: Why blame SAAB? If you read the board, you will see that there are good dealer service departments and not so good ones. I am not sure what SAAB can do about this, short of yanking the dealership ala VW in their early years in the US.
