who get killed by high repair costs. That would be people who don't have access to places on line communities like this where they can learn from others' experience.
I wound up paying $250 approx. for the fuel module for the van because I can get a GM discount. The cost to have it installed was about $200. Either way, seems a lot for a fuel pump. Like RickP, my wife seems oblivious to the idea that she needs to never let the tank get below 1/4 full. In the GM trucks, the in-tank fuel pumps rely on gasoline in the tank to keep them cool. They'll never heat up enough to ignite the gasoline, but common wisdom says they last a lot longer if the tank is kept from getting too low.
BTW, if it's a G1500, there are some things to watch out for. A hard 1-2 shift indicates a valve body problem. The fuel pump often goes at 50-70,000 miles. There's a part called the sun shell that breaks in the transmission. If you notice your cooling overflow resevoir seems to lose fluid, it may well be the intake manifold gasket, and the self-adjusting rear brakes often don't.
