Agree with that.
Allan, sorry to confuse, I just used the subject of your post to reply, I do not have a Chevy Van. My other car (wife's) is actually a Honda Passport, I hate to drive it, but it has been flawless for 60k miles.
I'm not a Saab fanatic, but my 1986 9000 went over 200k with very few of the accessories needing replacement, and except for a timing chain replacement and rebuild of the hydraulic clutch cylinders, the engine, gearbox and clutch did not need repairs. In fact a compression test at 210K showed even compression at 168 lbs in all cylinders. The 9-5 is more complex, particularily in the electronics. But I still believe that if you maintain wisely and DIY for repairs, the car will not be all that costly to operate. I'd own another Japanese make if I could not service the Saab myself. The DI is the exception, it's an unrealistic choice on Saab's part from a reliabiltiy standpoint.
