on my '99 w/ the seperate fob, the distance is pretty good; somewhere in the 30' range. better than the honda odyssey and not as good as the beetle. in the past, someone posted that the range is greatly increased if you hold the remote against your forhead [sounds dopey, i know] and boy oh boy were they right. my wife was incredulous [to say the least] so we performed the unscientific walking across the parking lot test. w/ both the honda and the saab we got an extra 20' out of the remote. had no effect on the range of the beetle remote. don't ask me why.....
