...they have done neither a cooling system pressure test nor a compression test, nor do they have any intention of doing either. He said, "You're not losing fluid so it's not the head gasket and smoke from the tailpipe is because it's cold."

They're giving us the run-around.

He said he'll give us another 30 days on the warranty, only on the head gasket if that will make us happy. I said it won't make me happy, because it is obvious to me that they will continue to say there's nothing wrong with the head gasket, no matter what."

...60 days, 90 days, 150 days...doesn't matter, they'll never agree that the head gasket needs to be replaced.

He said, "These are certified Saab mechanics and they say the head gasket is fine."

Funny how yesterday when I said that we had the car checked by a certified Saab mechanic, he told me that "Saab does not certify mechanics."

Okaaaaaaay. Pick an argument, bub.

Also, I asked him what their explanation is for the oil leaking all over the driveway (with what appears to be coolant), and for the smoke coming out of the tailpipe and the rise in the temperature gauge, and he said they don't know. This of course means that they're not going to fix the oil leak or anything else.

Perhaps our only recourse is to have the tests performed ourselves and if indeed they indicate a bad head gasket, then call them and tell them so, and tell them that we're going to have the job done ourselves and take them to small claims court over it.

Truly, though...I'm afraid of having it done there at this point. It would probably be a bad job.

THanks again for your guidance, friends.

Julia
