List ALL the symptoms, put 'em in writing. Demand that they be addressed under warranty. Take the advice about the legal stuff if you like, too. Document everything.

If the head gasket isn't really the problem, it won't fix the symptom(s). If you tell a mechanic to fix a part, and it doesn't solve the problem/symptom, where does that get you? You've made an incorrect diagnosis and the mechanic did his job. Have them work from a list of problems and make them do the diagnosis and solutions to your satisfaction. Make sure that time in the shop "stops the clock" on the 30 days. I.e. they fix a few things, but the car still blows smoke, then they say "sorry, you're past 30 days". You need to get the ball rolling soon, and get it all documented.
