I got a car in NY State with 99k from a used car dealer. Law in NY state requires a 30day/1000 mile warranty on a car with less than 100k. I had one hell of a list of things to fix, and the guy made good on it. I had 1 or 2 problems, but he got the big stuff. I was mad I had to drive Cleveland to Rochester 3 times to buy/fix/pickup the car, but in the end I love the SPG!

Does your state have a similar policy? How old is the car? How many miles? Did you get any blanket warranty forms when you bought the car? Is that 30 day warranty in writing? If so, you're probably in decent shape from a legal standpoint. If it's all "his word", you may have to bite the bullet. If you have to pay for it out of pocket, by all means take it to a shop you trust. Post your results here, too. If the place knows that a lot of SAAB nuts (us TSN folks) won't ever do business with the guy, they may think twice and keep their word. At the end of the day you're talking $1-200 in parts and a few hours labor. To me that's not worth losing business over.
