I have a hunch that the problem is in the interior or trunk lighting. I don't think that your clutch pedal work would have caused the problem, since you are not blowing fuses, caused by a hot wire that you accidently pulled and is touching ground.

I'm not an expert on 86 interior wiring and relays, but I'll try to help.

The first thing I'd check is the rear hatch area light. Open the rear hatch and see if the light is on. Check that the hatch light switch is not set to always on. If so, there's your problem.

This switch has 3 positions on, off and switched. If it's in the normal switched position and the light is on with the hatch open, push the round black button in down near the hatch latch on the floor. The light should go out. If the light stays on, this switch is bad. If it goes out, then you need to make sure that the closed hatch turns out the light. Pull out rear deck and close hatch, and the light should go out. If not the switch needs some adjustment so the striker will close it. I'm not exactly sure how to adjust it, but the mount may be loose. Anyway take a look.

If you can't figure it out, I'd just set the switch on the light to always off temporarily until you can get to it.

If the rear compartment light is not the culprit, there are 2 or 3 or 4 interior bulbs and all would have to be pulled to break the circuit. 1 at driver "B" pillar, 2 at ignition key, 3 above mirror(varies by year) and maybe a dome light. You should have a 2 or 3 position interior light switch in the console, set it to the off position and see if the drain is still there. If no drain when the lights are permanently turned off, there is a problem in the interior circuit. You might have a bad time delay relay, if you car has one. If you have the time delay, the relay is under the backseat clipped to the crossmember next to the seat buzzer relay.

If no time delay relay, then one of the interior lights might be on. Do you interior lights go on when the door is opened? If not, some of the bulbs may be burned out and the only one working is the one at the ignition switch. This bulb often slips out of the socket and may be permanently on under the console and you can't see it.

If there is a drain when the light are permanently turned off, then the problem could be a "partially" shorted clock motor winding. I don't know how to fix this other than messing with the printed instrument circuit.
