The trunk light switches often get banged up. Anyway if the light was off until today it's not causing your problem...nuts.
I wish I had my Bentley to look at the wiring for your year.
If you have 2 relays back there, one is probably the door open buzzer and the other is the time delay relay. Both pick up power through fuse 28. The delay relay also picks up power from fuses 12 and 24 on some years(maybe all).
Pulling the relay did not hurt anything. Try pulling both relays and see what happens. I think you may have found the glitch. I'd give Jim at sobstory a call and see what he thinks. He can send you a couple of relays to try.
Re the ignition switch bulb, If you pull the rear console you will see a bulb in a plastic socket dangling near the floor that fits into a hole right next to the ignition key from below. It illuminates the green ring around the key. I doubt this is your problem, but you might as well plug it in properly.
