sad new for the '76 Posted by Dan [Email] (#2459) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Dan) on Wed, 14 Jan 2004 22:36:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I swear, everything looked so straight on this car when I got it.
I Just changed the ball joints, tie rod ends, bushings, etc, and decided to get the alignment done today. Apparently the car has been hit on the driver's side before...though probably squarely on the wheel. I can get no better than 2.30 Degrees of negative camber on that side...no shims in there. I suppose if I was planning to really race this thing, I'd be half way there on front end alignment? Sad to put all the $ into this car just to find out I need to have the body tweeked.
I have a second 99 ('77 ems) with similar issues though I am a little more stumped on this one: the car has always had 195 60 15 on it while I've owned it. Some rubbing in the back but we all know about that. I changed the engine out, a sticking L front caliper and parked the car for a few weeks. On it's first real test drive I hear a constant rubbing from the L front. Loose caliper? No, the tire is rubbing on the spring. It never did that before. I dont' see what could have moved other than the ball joint that would move the wheel that close without also moving the spring. The R side has an inch gap, no problems at all. Having no brain capacity left for the moment, I can't see what to adjust. Any thoughts?
