Pre-noise transmission and axles are still in the car. With a 165 tire on the car, no rubbing (barely) and no noise. The only noise produced was from the wider tire rubbing the spring...the same tire that was on the same spindle attached to the same axle going into the same driver attached to the same tranny. I'm thinking that if the A-arms are in the right place, the ball joints are in the right place and not loose, then even if the engine IS over one way or another then when the car is going straight down the road, the axle tripod bearing would be 'bottoming out' in the driver cup.. Would it actually pull the wheel in, against the stationary force of the ball joints or only pushing out the bottom or pulling in the top of the spindle/wheel even though the axle attaches in the middle of the spindle? Do you see my confusion with the axle misalignment theory? Either way, I'll check it out. It is too cold right now (they keep saying it's going to warm up). I'll definitely let you guys know what I am finding when I dive back in. Other than this problem, the car is a keeper. Thanks for you help. Keep the ideas coming.
