Dan, The Driveshaft play is simply to allow for your suspension to go up and down. However, If in fact you have The WRONG driveshafts or mounts, And the drive shaft play Doug mentions is compromised, AS I suggested, ALL bets are off. After reading your comments on the short(post tow) ride, Your problem is in fact going to be in mounts/driveshafts. You can check your Body measurements with a tape measure and a factory manual. If you have a Parts book, look at all the driveshaft/ mount differences through the years.What year engine/tranny came out (might not be what you think was in there) and what year suff went in? Are you having any noise issues? An alignment shop cannot overcome this with any tweeking or shimming. When you get an older 99, you can inherit a lot of Drivetrain/mount mysteries. There are plenty of postings on these issues....look up Doug's past postings on these issues...Sound Familiar Doug?
