Relax: The SAAB 9-3 does all things well but it does few things better than any other car. Sure if you want to drive 75 MPH on a mountain road, a 3 series might handle better at low altitudes in good weather but if you are moving cross county in January and have to cross the mountains, who the hell needs a 3 series.
The 9-3 is fun to drive and very pratical. Its styling after 25,000 miles is still fresh and it is reliable.
Is it as nice a 9-5 SE when it comes to ride and amentities, no it is not. But it is more fun to drive. The 9-3 may have a rough ride on rough pavement and it may camber steer on steeply banked roads, but it is still the swiss army knife of sports sedans. Try loading ten bankers boxes into a 3 series or an Audi A-4.
Also, how often do you really drive a car so hard that its tires lose adhesion?
As for torque and braking, the 9-3 is on a par or better than the 3 series or A 4.
Quit worrying about what others say about your dog. Your dog may not b epretty to them, but he scents, visually stalks, points, flushes, finishes and retrieves just fine.
The BMW is like a grayhound. The Audi is like a fox hound. I' take the basset hound in hedge rows on a foggy day. The SAAB is a multi-purpose vehicle whereas the others are really just impractical sports sedans.
