Saab is aware of the problems associated with the OE Dunlops and have replaced many of them with Michelins. Ours were replaced, with less than 1K on them, with Michelin Pilot MXX3's at Saab's expense. They absolutely transformed the car and made driving it a much more enjoyable experience. At the 2000 SOC, was told by a Saab Cars USA tech rep, that the new Viggens would be using Michelins. The Viggens at VFA are required to be fitted with only OE parts, including tires, so as to duplicate driving with your Viggen. The OE Dunlops handled great on the track at VFA, but we prefer to drive ours on the street in real world situations. Our MXX3's now have about 13K on them and still have over 75% of tread remaining. Good luck and enjoy the ride!
