Having read all of the previous posts.
My 2nd set of tires were Pirelli P-zeros. These had great traction and would corner fantastic. My morning cold set roughness in these tires, turned out to be an out of roundness, that was masked when the tires warmed up. As the tires aged, and stiffend, they became unbearable.
I replace them while there was some nice tread left, replaced with Michelin Pilot Sports, installed on my car at TireRack, Southbend Ind. The transistion was huge. I loved my Saab again! The Sports do not corner the same. They are not as responsive, because they are supple. They will not dive into a corner like the P-zeros. They each had 140 wear rating.
The Sports are now stiffer and improved after the Kansas summer. I think that I prefer them this way. You would think that there would be a way to achieve a terminal level of vulcanization at the factory.
My next tire might be the MXX3's. These have steel re-enforced side walls. the Sports have greatly reduced torque steer, but some has crept in with the aging and stiffening. I expect that the MXX3's have a lot more torque steer than the Sports.
Torque steer in my 95SET can be heavy with 15 PSI in 1st and 2nd gears. With the aged Sports, it is rarely a surprise, but can be when under boost and making low speed lane changes.
I suspect that going to wider profile tires would make torque steer worse.
95SET, 113000 miles, HBC at 15PSI, sports exhaust, various intake modifications.
