MS, I don't know why I'm in love with Saabs. I can tell you this. I've been away from them for 10 years (my first taste was a 1980 Yellow 99). But everytime I drove down the road and saw a C900 I would froth at the mouth. Then I happened to stumble onto this website about a year ago, and you can imagine how I felt then.
After surfing for 2-3 months, I happened to stumble onto a pic of the exact car my wife made me sell 10yrs ago (I think it's now owned by Roger Podob). That's right, the exact car we sold with the same stickers.
So, I began my hunt for the Saab 99. At the end of this there's a link to a website that shows the history of my search and rebuild. In short, I bought an eBay $300 / Swapped the motor into a junkyard 1979, and now about $4k later - I'm back to driving a 99.
To answer your question. I love it's lines, I love the torque as Joshua stated, you can keep them running cheaply (not 99's - parts are all eBay or junkyards), and the people who drive them are forward thinking, have wonderful hearts, and can establish a community like this - that's why I love them. I've made friends in Australia, Netherlands, Europe, Germany & Sweden with this car. Of course America too. All because of a Saab.
