Why? Veratility. Bought the 2001 Viggen because it was a coupe hatchback, had a manual trans, was powerful, and had seats as nice as my dear long departed 1984 Scirocco GTI with GTI engine and suspension.
I have been a VW fan for years (1964, 65, 69, 71 Beetles, 1977 Rabbit, later modded to GTI, 1984 Scirocco, 1990 Jetta Carat. After the dreaded Pakistani waiter affair and the resulting demise of the Scirocco, I got into pickups. I never liked SUV's (selfish utility vehicles - named for the drivers not the fuel economy). After having a pickup, I will never not have one, they are just too practical. In addition, a pickup is such a dream to change the oil on. No ramps, slip right under... My most recent is a 4X4 Ranger. No mods except good shocks, great Michelin AT tires, lighting, but it makes surf fishing on the remote beaches of NC nice and easy, plus gets to work in all types of snowy weather.
