Like all aircraft, SAABs need their hangar time, and their maintenance budget. My annual repair costs for three 5-10 year-old 9000s has been about $1200 at best, and $3000 at worst (this year, which included a head gasket & DI coil pack ($1600), a fan speed relay ($300), and a sudden fluid leak. Having only owned experienced European cars (also VWs and Audis), I don't know how the other half lives. When I drive off the lot after the latest repair, I have the satisfaction of envying no one else on the road. next year, though, I hope to stay out of the shop more!
