Who said anything about modifying engines? We're talking about two cars here, one a 9000 with LPT, and one a newer 9-3 with similar (more?) horsepower. One has, as I stated, a possible question mark in its ZF automatic, and is older. The other lacks that question mark and costs only slightly more. And, it's newer. And, slightly better equipped.
If you're planning to drive one or the other off the lot and drive them as they are, then I recommend the 9-3 in this case (okay, making sure it's not sludged up!). Since a stock 9000 FPT or 9000 Aero has more thrust than the LPT, and more than the 9-3, perhaps then the comparison would change.
I never referred to the 9-5 Aero in my post.
You unconditional defenders of 9000s need to remember that at one time it, too, was subject to ridicule, hatred, curses and so much else from Saab faithful who saw it as a pretender. Much of what I'm hearing from you in this thread sounds suspiciously similar. And you need not address me as though I have insulted your sister's honor.
